Odor Ifact Minimization Plan <br /> Linden, CA <br /> Introduction <br /> The Scotts Company receives its feed stock from different companies <br /> within the state of California. Green waste is received from CR W industries <br /> located in Lodi CA, this feedstock mostly consists of green material, yard <br /> trimmings, and wood waste as they are defined in 14 CCR 17852. Bark Fines are <br /> delivered by SPI located in Lincoln CA. Manure & Grape Pumice are obtained <br /> locally from local farms and wine distilleries. Rice Hulls are obtained from Moura <br /> Rice Inc. All incoming feed stock is checked for physical contaminants. Green <br /> waste is stored in designated areas until ground by a contractor. Rice Hulls, <br /> Paper pulp, Grape Pumice, Manure, and Bark Fines will be mixed in different <br /> ratios and placed into windrows. After green waste and other feed stocks are <br /> mixed and processed they are placed in to windrows of 15' wide by 300' long. <br /> Water is added and windrows are turned by a machine called "scarab" or front- <br /> end loader to achieve temperatures of 131 OF and over. Compost is processed <br /> after its composting period (8-12 weeks) trough a 0.5 inch screen. Over size <br /> particles obtained from screening are placed back in to the un-ground green <br /> waste pile to start the process again. <br /> Finish product is transported to the mixing pad to be incorporated with <br /> other ingredients and form our potting soils. <br /> 1. Odor Monitoring Protocol. <br /> • The proximity of odor receptors. <br /> The closest receptors will be on site personnel who will be on site daily <br /> monitoring the status of the operation/facility. <br /> Undeveloped land and vineyards surround the site. (See Map) The Closest off- <br /> site receptors to the North (Home) are approximately 3 Miles away, to the South <br /> (Homes) 5 miles, to the East pasture and land, to the West (Mobile <br /> home/business) 0.5 miles. <br /> • Method of assessing odor impacts. <br /> Each day the operator will evaluate on site odors and evaluate operations for <br /> potential release of objectionable odors. Best Management Practices and good <br /> housekeeping measures will be implemented to minimize the release of <br /> objectionable odors (e.g., eliminating areas were water could pond, load <br /> checking, maintaining reasonable size stock piles of feedstock, mixing materials <br /> with excessive moisture with dry materials to reduce breeding of vectors and <br /> monitor piles with excessive high temperatures to avoid fire odors. <br /> The Scotts company 6/22/2007 <br />
