0 0
Califomia Waste Recovery Systems Report of Composting Site Information
compost operations should it go beyond normal daylight hours.
E. FIRE FIGHTING EQUIPMENT
Fire hydrants and hoses are available on site to put out any possible fires.
Each piece of equipment has a fire extinguisher and the Lodi Fire Department is
available if needed. The location of fire fighting equipment and fire hydrants are
shown in site plan (see Figure 11-2).
F. PROTECTION OF USERS
Signs are provided to direct the flow of traffic. Spotters and shift
supervisors direct traffic and facility operations in an effort to reduce potentially
dangerous situations from occurring. Visitors to the site are required to park in
designated parking areas adjacent to the administration building to avoid
circulation conflict with trucks.
G. SAFETY EQUIPMENT
All composting personnel are equipped with safety equipment such as:
hard hats, gloves, safety glasses, dust masks, and ear protection. In addition,
portable radios are available for equipment operators to communicate with
ground crew personnel to minimize accidents. California Waste Recovery
Systems has safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working
environment for all their personnel.
H. POWER FAILURE
None of the equipment associated with the composting facility operates
on electric power.
March 1997 Page V-2
