INTRODUCTION <br /> The California Waste Removal Systems Inc. Transfer Station and Recycle Center is being <br /> expanded to have the capacity to remove recyclables; from up to 2000 tons per day of <br /> incoming refuse. <br /> Due to the growing problem of the illegal dumping of hazardous waste at landfills and <br /> transfer stations, hazardous waste screening programs are now required by the California <br /> Waste Management Board Facilities Permit and the Regional Water Quality Control Board <br /> Waste Discharge Requirements. <br /> The California Waste Management Board requires that a hazardous waste screening <br /> program be described in the Report of Station Information (RSI). The screening programs <br /> should consist of the following activities: <br /> Inspection of random in-coming loads <br /> Regular visual inspection of the wastes deposited at the facility <br /> Training of facility personnel in hazardous waste recognition and proper hazardous <br /> waste handling procedures <br /> Reporting incidents of unlawful disposal to specific agencies <br /> Installation of signs at the facility entry way indicating that no hazardous waste are <br /> accepted <br /> Plans for implementing these requirements at the California Waste Removal Systems Inc. <br /> Transfer Station and Recycle Center are as follows: <br />
