Because the expansion area will be paved or covered by structures there will be a slight
decrease in groundwater infiltration in the expansion area. Additionally, the storm water
runoff generated by the proposed expansion will be increased due to the paved or covered
areas. The expansion of the project will create additional wastewater from wash facilities
and leachate from water that has contacted the refuse.
An extension of the present system for the control of storm runoff and wastewater will
control the additional volume. Clean storm waters and leachate/washwaters are handled
through a combination Sewer/Storm system equiped with catch basins to provide ready
removal of sanitary and storm waters in the 2.6 acre parcel at the north of the property.
This system can be switched to either divert all waters into the sanitary sewer system or
to separate the waters into the sanitary or storm sewer systems. The remaining site is
drained by the use of separate storm and sanitary systems which are not combined. In
this area berms are construced to insure that clean water is diverted to the storm system
and the wastewater is drained to the sanitary system. The 5.55 acre expansion area is
expected to also be drained by the use of two separate systems for storm and
leachate/washwater drainage.
Existing storm/sanitarysewers stems have been analyzed for flow and composition
characteristics to determine connection and monthly service charges. An evaluation of
water characteristics for the expansion area will be made and appropriate connection and
monthly service fees will be determined.
As indicated on Figure 8 the site is not located within the designated flood plain of the
Mokelumne River. However, if an anomalous flooding event were to ocurr, the facility
is paved and fenced and no impacts to public health are be forseen due to surface water
contamination.
YY Maybe NQ
4. Plant Life. Will the proposal result in:
a. Change in the diversity of
skies, or number of any
species of plants (including
trees, shrubs, grass, crops,
and aquatic plants)? X
b. Reduction of the numbers of
any unique, rare or endangered
species of plants? X
C. Introduction of new species
of plants into an area, or
in a barrier to the normal
replenishment of existing
species? X
27
