SOUTH SAN JO 11011 MANTECA, (209) 823-3101 DISTRICT 20 W FQRN I'Ar 5336 823-8406 December 7, 1988 Elicia Soto 605 Alturas Modesto, California 95353 RE: Notice to suspected polluters of waters under the control of South San Joaquin Irrigation District On December 1, 1988 at approximately 2:50 p.m. representatives of the SSJID were witness to solid waste (vehicle) pollution or contamination on or within facilities conducting waters under the control of the District. Upon a thorough examination of the situation it was determined that the most probable source of the pollution or contamination was from facilities/property situated at 605 Alturas, Modesto, California. The purpose of this letter is to serve notice to persons suspected of discharging any refuse or other polluting or contaminating or nuisance causing substance into water of the District and to notify them that such actions are prohibited. That as a consequence of such actions not only do the waters of the District (State) become polluted or contaminated and as such become so foul and dangerous that use by the District or others is or may be detrimental to the best interest of the public but that to do so is also an unlawful and unauthorized act on behalf of the responsible individual. To insure that such actions do not continue and ultimately result in civil or criminal complaints, the District requests that you immediately cease discharging into waters under the control of the District. Further you are requested to control all potential sources of contamination or pollution solely within the confines of property under your control and that you remove all potential sources of pollution or contamination including discharge facilities from right-of-ways and easements under the control of the District.
