A violation for Litter Control (14 CCR
17535) and "areas of concern" for Waste Removal Frequency (14 CCR 17513) , Odor Control (14
CCR 17537) , and Station Maintenance (14 CCR 17557) identified in the two previous LEA
monthly inspections (1/93 & 2/93) had been corrected by the time of this inspection.
Although the 12/91 SWFP allows for the storage of salvaged materials on .83 acres of
adjacent property (see map) , I observed all station operations (both processing and storage)
to be conducted on the original property ( .98 acres) . The storage of salvaged materials in
processing areas leads to cramped quarters and allows "no room for error" with regard to
employee/public safety. Since the 8/92 State Inspection, new curb and gutter installed
along both Sonora and Harrison Streets necessitates the use of the station's interior
loading dock (see map) instead of the Sonora Street loading dock. This modification in
operating practice further impacts processing/transfer operations on the .98 acre area.
Although a great amount of activity and processes occur on this limited acreage, I observed
that station supervisors coordinated and orchestrated activities in such a way as to provide
for employee/public safety and to allow equipment and vehicles access to all operating areas
of the station. The completion of grading and paving activities along both Sonora and
Harrison Streets will facilitate ingress to and egress from the facility.
07A
ITH
Waste Management Specialis
"'o-i
