'These certified recyclingg centers are located in. <br />over 180 of the 2600 convenience zones throughout Califorzua. The Divisionof <br />Recycling hasending applications or letters of intent from recycling "centers that <br />intend to certi and operate in over 450 additional zones. However, . despite this <br />effort, 304 convenience zones remain without either a certified recycling center, <br />a pending application, or letter of intent from a recycling center. These zones are <br />identified on the enclosed listing. <br />By law, recycling centers are required to be certified and established :thin...a <br />convenience` zone by January 1, 1988. All retailers of beverages located within <br />convenience zones that do not contain a recycling center willere aired after <br />Jaanary 1, 1988 t redeem. all containers from consumers, A 100 A. PAY ]FINE. <br />If you are a supermarket, check the attached list to see if your store is located in <br />one of the unserved zones. If yes, you should contact nearby recycling centers about` <br />establishing a center to serve your zone. ere are several cG anies, that provide <br />recycling services to a number' of markets statewide which you may choose to contact. <br />You may also want to contact other retailers of redeemable bevera es located 'thin <br />one-half mile of your store to organize a cooperative effort to estab is a redemption: <br />center in your convenience zone. <br />1i you are a recycling center, check the attached list to see if there are any <br />convenience zones near your location which are not served.
