Frank Girardi [EH]
From:
Kasey Foley [EH]
Sent:
Tuesday, February 21, 2006 2:59 PM
To:
Frank Girardi [EH]
Cc:
Robert McClellon [EH]
Subject:
RE: Lovelace Transfer Station Video Display Device/CRT Dismantling Operation
Hi Frank,
I don't know a lot about this dismantling thing except they have to notify DISC. To my knowledge, there is no temporary
operation so if they notify I assume it's permanent however according to this webpage
http://www.dtsc.ca.gov/database/CRT_Recyclers/alpha_list.cfm?letter=S San Joaquin County DOES NOT accept any
CRT's from the public, so at the very least that will need to be updated with DTSC.
DTSC does not keep a list of UWED (universal waste electronic device) treaters/recyclers like they do for CRT recyclers
but UWED treaters (d ism antlers)/recyclers are required to notify DTSC in writing of this operation in addition to CRT
recycling. Here is a link that shows what notification has to be made to whom for each activity
http://www.dtsc.ca.gov/HazardousWaste/EWaste/index.cfm
I hope this helps.
kasey
-----Original Message -----
From: Frank Girardi [EH]
Sent: Tuesday, February 21, 2006 11:54 AM
To: Kasey Foley [EH]
Cc: Robert McClellon [EH]
Subject: Lovelace Transfer Station Video Display Device/CRT Dismantling Operation
Hi Kasey,
I have a question about the Video Diplay Device/CRT dismantling operation at LLTS. Is the operation only a
temporary operation?
Since the sunset of the universal waste rule (2/8), they are expanding operation to dismantle u -waste (other than
Video Display Devices and CRTs). I am going to have them update their information to include what they are
dismantling (and if they are only a temporary operation). Thanks Kasey.
Frank Girardi Senior R.E.H.S.
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department
304 E.
