This employee is expected to read and understand the Program guides and <br />perform other tasks, as assigned. <br />Each day this employee is expected to perform the following daily assignments in the <br />order listed: <br />Traffic Direction Program <br />1. Set cones and signs for traffic direction and material drop off. <br />2. Direct traffic. <br />3. At the end of the day, secure all tools and equipment in the storage box and lock <br />the storage box. <br />Waste Recycling Program <br />1. Clean trash from the metal area. <br />2. Load trash cans. <br />3. Rake the metal area. <br />4. Stack tires. <br />5. Separate and place items in order of type (i.e. washing machines, dryers, stoves, <br />water heaters, lawn mowers, CRTs and e -waste, etc). <br />6. Haul trash to dumping area (only when there is a full truck load). <br />7. Separate non-ferrous metals only if other tasks are completed. <br />8. At the end of the day, secure all tools and equipment in the storage box and lock <br />the storage box. <br />9. Other tasks, as assigned. <br />Each Refuse Worker I will be evaluated based on the individual's ability to perform all <br />Waste Recycling Program tasks outlined below. <br />• Attend training sessions to receive instruction in traffic safety, hazardous waste <br />recognition/awareness, heavy equipment safety and communications skills <br />enhancement. <br />• While on duty, wear Department assigned Landfill Safety Monitor Uniform, <br />safety boots, and traffic vest. <br />• Use all safety equipment as directed. <br />• Maintain constant communications with other Refuse Workers I, Equipment <br />Operators and Supervisors through the use of two way radio systems and hand <br />signals. <br />• Maintain a constant watch of vehicles and equipment movement, with the intent <br />of protecting self and others from harm. <br />• Communicate with customers, answering questions regarding landfill facility <br />services, rules, fees, and acceptability of waste types. <br />• Visually inspect waste loads for obvious signs of prohibited, hazardous or special <br />waste. Communicate the unacceptability of the waste and provide information on <br />alternative locations for legal disposal. Notify Supervisors or onsite Hazardous <br />Waste Inspector when large amounts of hazardous waste are suspected. <br />Page 6 of 7 <br />
