r
Stockton Scavengers Association
g- th A WASTE MANAGEMENT COMPANY
1240 Navy Drive
April 12, 2004 Stockton,CA 95206
(209)946-5721
David J. Stagnaro (209)948-4013 Fax
Associate Planner
City of Stockton
345 N. El Dorado Street
Stockton, Ca. 95202 1
Re: Use Permit UP92-99
Dear Mr. Stagnaro,
Stockton Scavengers Association (SSA) respectfully requests an extension of the use
permit UP92-99.
Stockton Scavengers Association requests this extension for an additional year given that
our available capital in the years 2003 & 2004 has been used towards the implementation
of the residential 3 cart roll-out that automates refuse collection within the City . In
addition, SSA has added green waste collection and street sweeping into its operations as
an added service to the City.
The capital expense to initiate these programs is in excess of 5 million dollars and the
decision to delay the transfer station expansion while untimely is also unavoidable. The
benefits resulting from the delay include a better understanding of the waste stream once
the 3-cart program is initiated and has been in place for a period of time. This delay thus
assists us with the ability to improve the layout of the transfer station and meet the needs
of our operation and the City.
We look forward to your recommendation to the planning commission for an extension
of this use permit for an additional year. Should you have any questions please feel free
to call me directly at 209-460-3912.
Sincerely,
Alan Maclsaac
District Manager
Stockton Scavengers Association
Cc Holvard Seligman. Esq.
A Division of Waste Management
