rir-
The applicant, Tracy Material Recovery and Solid Waste Transfer, Inc., has submitted a Use Permit
application for the Tracy Materials Recovery and Transfer Facility to be located on 38.8 acres south of the
City of Tracy. The site is located on the west side of MacArthur Drive, south of Linne Road.
The general objectives of this facility are to accept nonhazardous solid waste from the City of Tracy and
portions of San Joaquin County, extract recyclable materials from the waste stream, and transfer the
residual waste to remote landfills.
The transfer facility will be planned and developed with various functional areas. The facility will consist
of the following activities and/or functional areas:
1. Sorting of nonhazardous solid waste and/or collected recyclables.
2. Transfer station for the transport of the residual waste to landfills.
3. Processing of the recyclables from sorting and curbside collection programs.
4. Yard waste processing and composting.
5. Wood waste storage and processing for off-site disposal.
6. Administrative and maintenance area for both the transfer facility operations and refuse collection
operations.
7. Periodic household hazardous waste collection, separation, and temporary storage for off-site
disposal.
The facility will be open daily from 4:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., with approximately 20 employees. The
applicants estimate that the facility will accommodate approximately 500 to 600 tons per day of total
refuse. The amount actually processed through the facility may be significantly less, however, depending
on the amount of separated yard and wood waste brought to the facility.
