PHASE III Random Load Checking
The third phase of the hazardous waste screening program is a random load checking
program. Ile load checking shall be conductedby an inspector trained in hazardous
waste detection and handling.
On a random basis, the trained inspector will select a load for inspection. ne driver
will be asked to unload the waste at a designated location. ne driver will be instructed
to pull forward while unloading, so that a long, narrow windrow is formed. The
inspector will then sort through the windrow, using a rAke or shovel. The material will
be carefully observed for the presence of any prohibitedwastes in the load. The methods
y which the acceptability of wastes will be determined are described below.
Observations will be recorded on the data sheet for the load. If necessary, photographs
and samples will be taken.
The load-checking inspector will complete e load checking data sheet (Attachment 2),
and along with the driver, sign the form.
® If hazardous or other unacceptable wastes are identified, the responsible party will be
notified that the wastes must be removed m the facility premises and arrangements
made for their proper disposal.
L:VR -QC C-5 IS.IM
