D. NATURE AND QUANTITY OF WASTES TO BE ACCEPTED
1. WASTE TYPES
The general categories of solid waste anticipated to be received at the station includes residential,
commercial, industrial/construction, and self-haul. These wastes are currently accepted at the
Corral Hollow Sanitary Landfill and it is assumed similar materials would be processed by this
facility. Composition of refuse typically received at the Corral Hollow landfill consists of paper
products, food wastes, glass, metal, wood, plastic, cloth, rubber, synthetics and inert waste such
as soil, ashes, rock, etc.
a. General
General waste type and quantity projections for the Tracy Planning Area are presented, by waste
category, on Table 1. The Tracy Planning Area, as defined by the San Joaquin County Planning
Department, consists of the City of Tracy and portions of the unincorporated County, which
approximately encompass the South County Collection Region. See Figure 1 for the delineation
of the Tracy Planning Area. Information utilized to develop waste quantity projections included
the City of Tracy and San Joaquin County Source Reduction and Recycling Elements (S 's),
1990 census data and discussions with City and County public works departments and planning
agencies. Per the SRRE's for Tracy and San Joaquin County, for 1990, a total of approximately
62,313 tons of waste were generated from the entire Tracy Planning Area with waste types and
approximate percentages as follows:
Paper 31% Yard Waste 12%
Plastics 9% Other Organics 25%
Glass 4% Inert Waste 7%
Metals 11% Hazardous Waste 0.9%
L'/PR0JECT/397/MRF/RS1-1.TCY
Revision 1.0 5 February 1,1994
