be designed for the 25-year/24-hour event.
The evaporation pond is sized for the quantity of runoff estimated to be generated from a
100-year/24-hour precipitation event from the Wood Storage and Yard Waste Composting
surface area. Water balance calculations were modeled on a monthly basis by summing runoff
generation, direct rainfall-I on the pond surface, and evaporation from the corresponding water
surface area. The volume of runoff at the end of a month was then correlated to a specific depth
based on the pond geometry. The evaporation pond is sized such that runoff levels during the
winter months do not exceed two feet of freeboard.
During major storm events, if necessary, the ponds will be pumped to maintain capacity. The
retention pond will be pumped a bermed area north of thew and yard waste composting
area. The evaporation pond will be pumped into tanker trucks for disposal off site.
A summary of the design methodologies and calculations are presented in Appendix E.
B. STATION MPROVFMFNTS
1. IDENTIFICATION SIGNS
Signs identifying the facility will be placed at all entrances to the facility. The signs will at a
minimum identify the facility operator and will conform with San Joaquin County zoning
requirements and sign ordinances.
2. ENTRY SIGNS
Entry signs depicting the schedule of charges, hours of operation, and listing of materials
accepted and not accepted will be placed at the main entrance.
3. STATION SEcuRITY
A 6 foot chain link fence will be placed along the perimeter of the site and around the
evaporation and retention ponds. Gates will be locked during non-operating hours.
L:1PR0JECr/397/1*W/RS1-LTCY
Revision 1.0 25 December 15, 1993
