The baler proposed for use at this facility is an existing baler currently used by Tracy Delta
Disposal Service in their recycling programs. The baler is a 2-Ram Selco Model 2RI050 (50
HP) and is hydraulically activated for smooth and efficient movement. Bales are approximately
45 by 30 by 62 inches in size with a weight of a approximately 900 to 1,600 pounds, depending
on the materials baled. The baler is capable of producing 19 to 33 tons per hour with an
automatic bale strapper.
Sorting Lin
The material sorting line will consist of a pit, conveyors and picking stations. All conveyors
will be heavy duty steel frames and chain-driven steel or rubber belt conveyors. Each conveyor
has side skirts along each side to prevent loss of material between the moving belt and the
conveyor sides. Conveyor widths range from 48 inches to 60 inches. Picking stations will be
elevated approximately 14 feet above the floor with stations on each side of the conveyor. See
Sheet 10 of the Preliminary Development Plans for a cross section of the sorting line.
Magnetic Separator
A magnetic separator will be installed in the picking line conveyor for the removal of ferrous
material. This separator will either be a drum type, magnetic head pulley type or a magnetic
belt and can be assembled and suspended in line, crossbelt or mounted as conveyor head pulleys.
Uaders
Rubber tired loaders will be used for pushing material into conveyor pits or open top trailers.
They will be equipped with heavy-duty diesel engines, automatic bucket controls and sealed
linkages to extend lube intervals and reduce maintenance time. Model sizes will be purchased
depending on their assigned use.
Trailers and Tractor Units
Open top trailers with walking floors will be used for the residual waste disposal to the landfill.
Initially 4 trailers and 3 tractor units will be used for the estimated initial waste transfer of 205
L:/PROJECT/3917/NRF/RS1-1.TCY
Revision 1.0 30 December 15, 1993
