Transfer/Processing Report
Tracy Material Recovery and Transfer Facility
30703 5. MacArthur Drive, Tracy, California 95377
Outdoor Processing
Composting Facility- 200 TPD
The composting facility will process an average of 132 TPD of green materials and
food waste for conversion into compost and mulch products, with a seasonal peak
of 200 TPD. The grinding equipment is capable of processing 50 to 100 tons per
hour. With an operating day of up to 14 hours per day, but in reality will only
operate up to 6 hours per day; the facility could easily process 600 TPD.
C&D Processing Facility- 720 TPD
Floor sorting capacity on the tipping pad of debris boxes loads and roll-off bins can
vary among the many different types of material. With small front-end loaders and
10 to 12 full-time sorters, 500 TPD could easily be handled to separate wood
wastes, metal, inerts, and the residuals.
With the installation of the mechanical sort line, the design capacity increases to
720 TPD, as described fully in the CDI Facility Report found in Section III of this
document.
Inert Processing Facility- 3,000 TPD
The Inert Processing Facility will operate as a crushing facility for concrete,
asphalt, and like inert materials for recycled aggregate products. The grinding
equipment is capable of processing 250 tons per hour. With an operating day of up
to 16 hours per day, but in reality will only operate up to 10 hours per day; the
facility could easily process 3,000 TPD.
Types and Numbers of Vehicles
Vehicles anticipated to enter the Tracy MRF & TS include (1) collection trucks and
hauling vehicles, (2) trucks removing recovered materials, (3) transfer trucks
carrying solid waste to a landfill, and (4) vehicles used to transport employees to
the facility.
Traffic volume was assessed during the original land use permitting and approved
at 560 vehicles per day (with an incoming total tonnage volume of 1,038 tons per
day). Based upon a proposed volume of 1,800 tons per day of incoming solid
waste, a total of 1,245 vehicles per day are expected, as shown below in Table 4.
Table 4 - Traffic Summary
Residential Commercial Self- Total Transfer Compost Total
Employees Visitors Collection Collection Haul Inbound Trucks Sales Outbound
Trucks Trucks Vehicles
Total 125 12 96 273 600 1,106 75 64 139
Vehicles
Avg.per 5.5 3.4 0.55 22.5 1.0
load
Total 534 933 333 1,800 1,688 64 1,752
Tons
20
