Report of Composting Site Information <br />Tracy Material Recovery and Transfer Facility <br />30703 S. MacArthur Drive, Tracy, Ca. 95377 <br />At -Grade Air Delivery System <br />Combining the ASP System and CompDogTM at -grade aeration floor system is a cost <br />effective way to deliver oxygen to the static piles. The CompDogTM uses an inflatable <br />form to create aeration vaults under an ASP pile. The ASP pile is built on top of the <br />CompDogTM and is allowed to settle overnight. In the morning the CompDogTM is <br />removed and leaves behind an aeration vault used for air distribution through the <br />biomass. The CompDogTM system includes a CompDogTM Roller, and Inflation and <br />Deflation mechanism, allowing it to be removed leaving a tunnel like space for air flow. <br />The inflated CompDogTM is shown in Appendix D (see also <br />http://www.compostsystems.com/). <br />Aeration Floor System <br />An alternative to the at -grade aeration system is an aeration floor, where the aeration <br />system is built into a concrete slab upon which the compost feedstock is placed. <br />Although capital costs are higher for in -floor aeration systems, durability is high and <br />collection of liquids is facilitated. The aeration floor can be operated with either positive <br />or negative aeration. <br />Elongated Aerated Static Pile <br />• Incoming trucks will be received and weighed at the scale located near the entrance <br />to the facility. The scale personnel will direct haulers to the composting facility after a <br />cursory load check. Appropriate signage in conformance with the requirements of <br />lank 14 CCR §17867(a)(7) will be placed within the composting facility. <br />• The source separated green materials delivered to the compost facility will be <br />directed to the receiving area. The compost facility personnel will typically conduct a <br />load check upon deposition. Contaminated and non-compostable materials will <br />either be returned to the hauler or placed in a bin located near the receiving area. <br />• The green waste, green material and food waste will be processed in a grinder in the <br />processing area and deposited directly into the static piles. A front-end loader will be <br />used to feed the material into the grinder. Some material may arrive at the facility <br />already pre -blended and ground. The ground material will be formed into elongated <br />piles over a computer controlled aeration system for on-site composting as shown <br />on the Site Plan. <br />• The material is formed into trapezoidal -shaped piles of approximately 30 feet wide, <br />15 feet high, and 70 feet in length. Piles are separated by an access road for <br />loading, monitoring, watering, moving, and turning. The pile layout for the operations <br />is generally west to east as illustrated in Site Plan. <br />• The identity of each ASP is designated by an identification number in the control <br />system and on the operations diagram. All information pertaining to each pile will be <br />calculated and stored in the computerized control system (and documented in site <br />records) which will allow instant identification of pile status (e.g. start date, <br />temperature readings and historical profile, air flow, and sampling) and allow site <br />personnel to isolate material waiting testing results. <br />15 <br />
