P <br /> 304 East Weber Avenue, Third Floor • Stockton, CA 95202 <br /> 209/468-3420 <br /> JULY 25, 1997 <br /> AURANGVEB KHAN C <br /> C/O JOHNVEB KHAN <br /> 19171 MELLO AVE <br /> RIPON CA 95366 <br /> RE: JENKINS POULTRY <br /> 19171 MELLO AVE <br /> Please be advised that San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Environmental Health <br /> Division (PHS-EHD) has responded to numerous complaints of fly breeding and odors from the <br /> manure ponds located at the above noted facility. In a letter to Jenkins Poultry, dated July 2, <br /> 1997, (copy enclosed) PHS-EHD requested the restoration of the manure ponds at the above <br /> noted address to a condition which will prevent the creation of a nuisance and/or odors. The letter <br /> advised Jenkins Poultry that failure to comply may result in legal or administrative enforcement <br /> action. The manure ponds were inspected on July 23, 1997 by PHS-EHD staff and the condition <br /> of the manure ponds remains in violation of San Joaquin County Ordinance Code. <br /> PHS-EHD is also forwarding a copy of a letter to Jenkins Poultry dated July 25, 1997, again <br /> requesting the abatement of the violations documented at this facility. PHS-EHD may proceed <br /> with enforcement action against Jenkins Poultry in the event no progress is made regarding these <br /> violations. <br /> However, please be advised that the abatement of the documented violations on this <br /> parcel is ultimately the responsibility of the property owner. Therefore, you are hereby <br /> being requested to take any necessary action within thirty (30)days to restore the ponds <br /> to a condition which will prevent the creation of a nuisance and/or odors. Specifically,the <br /> ponds at this facility must be free of all solid material (except anaerobic sludge on the <br /> bottom of the pond). Any solid material generated at this facility must be handled as <br /> required in the Rules and Regulations pertaining to the San Joaquin County Ordinance <br /> Code. <br /> If you have any questions or wish to discuss this letter in more detail, please contact Linda <br /> Turkatte, Senior REHS, at(209)468-3441. <br /> Karen Furst, M.D., M.P.H. <br /> Health Officer <br /> Linda A.
