The re -inspection
revealed that some of the items listed on the May 24, 2006, inspection report were corrected. The
following items remain outstanding and will require correction by June 21, 2006.
1. The facility has four onsite holding ponds. Two of the ponds are primarily used for
storage of liquid manure and the other two serve as overflow storage for the primary
manure ponds. The ponds have feather and manure solids that have built up above the
liquid level of the ponds. Remove and/or agitate the solids until they are completely
covered with liquid by May 31, 2006, and implement a routine maintenance plan to
prevent future solids build-up in the ponds. Reference the pond maintenance plan and
schedule in the manure management plan. Immediately begin to agitate the solids in the
pond. This item will be checked as part of the second re -inspection on June 21, 2006.
2. The facility has thick vegetation around the manure ponds and poultry houses. Spray,
mow and disc the weeds to reduce potential fire hazards and vector harborage by June 7,
2006. Immediately begin to remove the remaining vegetation from around the ponds.
This item will be checked during the second re -inspection on June 21, 2006.
3. The facility roads are rough. There are several large potholes that hold standing water, a
potential source for mosquito breeding. Tirade all roads inside the facility and maintain
surface runoff by June 24, 2006 Continue to grade interior road and remove the
potholes and low spots. This item will be checked during the second re -inspection on
June 21, 2006.
There were additional issues discovered during the re -inspection that require attention. It is not
customary for the EHD to document new violations during a re -inspection, but these items are
noted on this inspection report as a reminder that they require correction.
• The area between Houses #10 and #11 was subject to discharge from the manure flush
system and may be subject to fly breeding. Properly maintain the manure flush system
and discontinue the discharge of liquid manure. Immediately disc the area to facilitate
drying.
® The sump pump discharge line associated with the manure flush system, located east of
Houses #7 and #8, is leaking liquid manure. Properly repair the discharge line and disc
area to facilitate drying.
® The dumpster that is used to dispose of whole grain feed has holes, allowing the feed to
leak out. Properly repair or replace the dumpster so that it is of sound construction, has
no holes and does not provide a food source for rodents.
The next re -inspection will be conducted on June 14, 2006. Please note that the items
listed on the May 24, 2006, inspection report with a June 24, 2006, compliance date will
be checked during the June 24, 2006, re -inspection.
