Olivera Foods
11/13/2013
Routine Inspection
Continuation Sheet
1. During the inspection the primary lagoon was being excavated to remove manure
sludge. There was a loader and two trucks removing sludge from the north side of
the lagoon and an excavator tractor/scraper working on the south side of the
lagoon. The operation on the north side was removing the sludge from the site.
The tractor/scraper was removing the sludge from the lagoon and stockpiling it
onsite for removal at a later date.
2. The site operator has installed a plate drier between house 3 and 4. The plate drier
takes the manure from house 1 through 5.
3. There was liquid in the secondary lagoon. The liquid was in the lowest point of
the lagoon. The volume of the liquid was small relative to the size of the lagoon.
The site operator indicated that the liquid was from an over flow of the cooling
system from houses on the south side of the property. The site operator indicated
that he had holes excavated in the bottom of the lagoon to disperse the liquid.
4. The site did not have feed spillage under or near the feed silos.
5. The site did have bait stations that were stocked with bait.
6. The fly population was light. There were very few adult flies. No evidence of fly
breeding was found.
7. The dry padding area had approximately 7windrows of manure. The windrows
were being turned at the time of the visit. The odors were strong in the dry
padding area. Off site odors were not evaluated during this inspection.
8. The daily mortality is being incinerated. The site operator indicated that he had a
new incinerator installed recently and that APCD permitted the installation.
9. There were several dumpster onsite for the solid waste being generated.
Al
$ 1 5
NMI
h
Primary Lagoon Sludge Removal
