r
HAYRE'S EGG PRODUCERS
FERTILIZER DISPOSAL PLANS
HAYRE'S EGG PRODUCERS has been in operation since 1940 in the Lathrop area. The
once small operation has now developed into a fairly large business. Lathrop, likewise, has
grown and now has been incorporated as a city. Many of the newly developed housing
developments have been occupied by individuals who are offended by the odors. HAYRE'S EGG
PRODUCERS have tried to handle these problems as they occur as well as plan ahead.
HAYRE'S EGG PRODUCERS can utilize the plan established in September of 1987. It is
currently utilizing the following procedures:
1. Two Rivers Road location is no longer in operation.
2. A small percentage of fertilizer is sold. After cleaning the units daily, the manure is
delivered directly to the farmers fields and given to them. The farmers handle the spreading and
discing of the manure. This procedure has been working very well for a number of years.
3. There is a pond located on Bowman Road which removes additional fertilizer from our
storage yard.
4. There is currently one drying yard located on Frewert Road. When manure is
delivered to this location, the manure is spread and turned over daily for sun drying. A small
percentage of the manure is sold from this location and the balance is picked up and hauled to the
farmers.
5. During the winter season when fields are wet, the 1987 Plan is utilized wherein the
manure is piled at the drying yard.q, The manure is spread thin in the dry yards, worked until
dry and then hauled to the fields as weather permits.
Long range plans are to build ponds at each drying location. Under the present economic
conditions and the below cost level in the egg industry, a project of this nature cannot be
implemented at this time.
r. 7* M*74PAIMPItN
