We lose about twenty five to thirty birds a day from normal operations.
To dispose of these birds we have a two stage propane burner that incinerates the
birds with almost no smoke or odor. See site map C for location of burner.
FEEDING OPERATIONS
We have feed storage tanks of various sizes for every chicken house. See
site map C for location. House numbers 3,4 have a chain fill system that is
checked on a daily basis. If there is spillage of feed it is cleaned on a daily basis.
Houses one,two and five have auger type fill systems. There is no feed spillage
from these types of systems unless someone is working on the auger. The
concrete pads where the feed tanks sit are swept once a week to keep them clean.
VECTOR CONTROL
In the winter we spray for flies on a weekly basis. During summer months
we spray for flies on a daily basis. We also use fly traps and bait. We spray
around the outside of the houses and the wash out for the manure equipment. New
Tec Pest Control is the company that does our Rodent and Vector control. They
service our facility once a month or more if vectors become out of control. At the
east end of the ranch we have a catch pond for water run off. See site map C for
location. This pond is sprayed for mosquitoes by county vector control.
