0000
or 1.8 dry matter tons per acre per field rotation. There is approximately 1 .8 pounds
of nitrogen in 10 wet tons of the waste being spread. There will be a maximum of
4000 tons of wet waste incorporated into the 32 acre site which would be 720 lbs
in dry units of nitrogen and this would be well below the threshold of 4000 lbs require
to grow barley.
In the event that an alternative site is required the following sites will be available:
Wimer Ranch also known as F & W #2, which consists of 300 acres of dry pasture
land in Calaveras County and an adjacent parcel in San Joaquin County, Lyons Mopes
Ranch, Dos Rios Ranch and Sun Dry Products.
Vector control will be accomplished by cycling the feed in and out of the feed
managers twice per day. Fresh product remnants are collected and spread and disced
twice per day, 6 mil black plastic will be utilized to cover the silage pits, and as a final
measure there shall be periodic spraying of insecticide to significantly reduce migrant
fly populations.
The recommendation is that this site be exempted from a State Solid Waste Facilities
Permit and be under jurisdiction and inspection of a County Environmental Health
Permit.
4) J. & M. Mello, Cannery Waste Site
The J & M Mello cannery waste site is located at 13013 W. Middle Road in Tracy,
California. The site is located on a parcel of approximately 20 acres. Groundwater is
present at a depth of between 5 and 15 feet in this area. The period of operation is
from June 1 through October 30.
The type of waste accepted at this site is tomato mud. Should the site be unavailable the
material can be delivered to Sun Dry Co. in Vernalis CA.
Vector control is accomplished by thinly spreading waste to promote fast drying.
Inspections have noted flies to be very light to light and fly breeding to be none to
very light.
The recommendation is that this site be exempted from a State Solid Waste Facilities
Permit and be under jurisdiction and inspection of a County Environmental Health
Permit.
Waste Water Treatment Sludge Site
4
