2. GDM Acceptance: Final acceptance of the GDM will be based on all tests <br /> made on completed Work and on leak location testing and repair. Testing <br /> for final acceptance shall be performed by the QA/QC CONSULTANT in <br /> accordance with these Specifications and the CQA Manual. <br /> C. Protection: <br /> 1. Do not route construction traffic on top of GDM once material has been <br /> placed. <br /> 2. Constructed GDM shall be maintained to meet the requirements of this <br /> Specification until final completion and acceptance of the Work. This shall <br /> include all measures to prevent erosion. During seasonal or other extended <br /> shutdowns, all exposed surfaces shall be protected as detailed in Article 3.1 <br /> of this Section. In addition, the GDM shall be protected from any <br /> contamination that reduces the hydraulic conductivity. Any contaminated <br /> materials shall be removed and replaced at no cost to the OWNER. <br /> 3.10 GEOTEXTILE <br /> A. The EARTHWORK CONTRACTOR shall place geotextile around coarse gravel <br /> in accordance with Section 02771, GEOTEXTILES, of these Specifications. <br /> B. The EARTHWORK CONTRACTOR shall coordinate with GEOSYNTHETICS <br /> CONTRACTOR to construct the gravel logs. <br /> 3.11 GENERAL EARTHFILL <br /> A. Place material in minimum 8-inch lifts and compact each lift to minimum 93 <br /> percent relative compaction (ASTM D1557) and moisture content within 3 <br /> percent of optimum. <br /> B. Do not attempt to compact general earthfill that contains excessive moisture. <br /> Aerate material by blading, discing, harrowing, or other methods, to hasten drying <br /> process. <br /> C. Use hand-held compaction equipment, if necessary, when compacting general <br /> earthfill around pipes or in anchor trenches. <br /> 3.12 ANCHOR TRENCH <br /> A. The EARTHWORK CONTRACTOR shall excavate the anchor trench as shown <br /> on the Construction Drawings. The EARTHWORK CONTRACTOR shall <br /> protect the trench from desiccation, sloughing, and flooding. <br /> B. All corners of anchor trench over which geosynthetic materials will be placed <br /> shall be rounded. <br /> C. Excavated material shall be placed at a sufficient distance from the edge of <br /> Forward Compost Facility Stormwater Improvements <br /> 02300 13 EARTHWORK <br />
