Bobcat
Central may be changing oil, oil filters or batteries. Bobcat Central must leave your customers a
receipt showing proper handling of these hazardous wastes. I've attached a sample receipt. The
relevant California regulations and statutes are attached also:
Used oil: California Health &Safety Code 25250.12 -A 3rd party maintenance company can haul up
to 55 gallons of used oil to their place
of business. To show proper handling, the maintenance company can leave a
receipt or the generator facility can keep a log. The log or receipt must contain the
waste composition (used oil), amount, date hauled and the maintenance company
name and address.
Drained used oil filters: Title 22 California Code of Regulations 66266.130(c)(5) - Persons generating,
transporting, or receiving used oil filters shall use
a bill of lading to record the transfer of used oil filters. Bills of lading must indicate
generator, transporter, and receiving company names, addresses, telephone
numbers, the quantity and size of used oil filter containers transferred, and the date
of transfer. A copy of each bill of lading must be kept on the premises of the
generator, transporter, and receiving facility where the used oil filters were handled.
Lead acid batteries: Title 22 CCR 66266.81(a)(4)(A) -The generator shall use either the manifest or a
bill of lading which fulfills the requirements of Title 13 CCR section 1161, to record the shipment of
spent lead-acid storage batteries to a person who stores the batteries or who uses, reuses, recycles
or reclaims the batteries or their components.
Garrett Backus, Ld.
