J
Revised Work Scope
2303 West Lane, Stockton,California
The work scope for the soil and groundwater investigation proposed for the former R&L Diesel
site, located at 2303 West Lane, in Stockton, California(`Site")has been revised. The revised
work scope includes a total of six borings, the locations of which are shown on the attached
figure. Five of the boring will be advanced for the purpose of collection of soil samples, and one
boring will be advanced to collect a reconnaissance groundwater sample from the uppermost
water bearing interval beneath the Site.
Scope of Work
Shallow soil samples will be collected from the following locations:
• Beneath the dynamometer
• Beneath the north edge of the maintenance shop floor slab (where hazardous material has
historically been stored)
• Adjacent to the septic tank/drain field behind the south west corner of the maintenance
shop
• Near the northwest corner of the Site, where treated railroad ties had been stored
• Near the northwest corner of the Site, where an above ground storage tank("AST")
historically was located.
The reconnaissance groundwater sample will be collected from the parking area north (assumed
downgradient)of the site maintenance shop. A sample of groundwater from the upper most
saturated zone will be collected from this location.
The exploratory borings for reconnaissance soil sampling will be advanced using either a hand-
held auger or a direct push drill rig. To minimize damage to the existing facility structures, angle
holes using the direct push drill rig will be advanced beneath the dynamometer and the building
floor slab. Soil samples will be collected beneath the bottom of the dynamometer sump, and
beneath the shop floor slab and subgrade.
Near the former AST location and the area used for storage of railroad ties, shallow borings will
be advanced through the asphalt and subgrade. A sample of soil immediately beneath the
subgrade will be collected at each location, using the direct push drill rig.
A shallow boring will be advanced using a hand-held auger near septic tank, where the drain
field line exits the tank, at an estimated depth of 2-3 feet below grade.
The boring for the reconnaissance groundwater sample will be advanced using a direct push drill
rig. The borehole will be advanced to shallow groundwater. At this depth, the drill rod will be
retracted to expose a temporary well point, and groundwater will be allowed to enter the well
