SITE PERSONNEL WILL NOT ENGAGE IN FIRE FIGHTING ACTIVITIES <br /> BEYOND THE INCIPIENT STAGE. THE LOCAL FIRE DEPARTMENT WILL <br /> BE CALLED FOR ANY FIRE EVENT. IF A FIRE REQUIRES MORE THAN <br /> ONE FIRE EXTINGUISHER, SITE PERSONNEL WILL EVACUATE THE <br /> AREA AND WAIT FOR THE FIRE DEPARTMENT TO RESPOND. <br /> 4.2.7. Confined Space Entry <br /> Excavation of soil will be achieved without confined space entry into the excavation pits. <br /> A confined space is an area with limited means of ingress or egress that may be subject to <br /> hazardous concentrations of toxic chemicals which may result in illness or death, and <br /> where conditions may create an oxygen-deficient atmosphere. These locations are <br /> typically lacking in ventilation such that removal of hazardous materials or a supply of <br /> fresh air is insufficient. <br /> Confined spaces include, but are not limited to: vaults, sewers, tanks, excavation <br /> bunkers,basements, sumps,piping, vessels,barge holds, crawl spaces,trenches and <br /> excavations, and tunnels. <br /> CONFINED SPACE ENTRY IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED DURING THIS <br /> PHASE II ESA. IF A CONFINED SPACE ENTRY IS NECESSARY FOR THIS <br /> ESA,A WRITTEN CONFINED SPACE PERMIT MUST BE SECURED PRIOR <br /> TO THE CONFINED SPACE ENTRY. <br /> 5. ONSITE SAFETY EQUIPMENT <br /> The following subsections describe personal and general safety equipment that will be <br /> required onsite. <br /> 5.1.
