The tank to be removed wasdescribed
as Tank # 352, having a 12,000 gal, capacity, later revised to 10,000 gal.
The regional location is seen on figs. 1&2.
The tank had contained # 6 crude oil, a heavy industrial boiler fuel,
that had been used in the boiler room of an adjacent warehouse (figs. 3 &4
also App. A--1). The tank was thought to be empty at the time of removal. It
f. had been in place for about 55 years insofar as is known ( Aldo Freggairo),
The Port of Stockton does not have any history of leaks or spills from the
tank-The tank had out of use since about 1966, when a cotton gin that used
steam from the boiler room switched to natural gas -for fuel. Some fuel oil had
been left in the tank for some period of time in case the natural gas supply
should rail, but no history of use was recorded.
Between 1/23 &27, 1989 blacktop paving was removed and piping to the ware-
house from under the adjacent concrete loading dock was cut and removed { the two
steam lines and two product lines),
T
I It
2
