r. <br /> Jim Thorpe Oil , Inc., on hehalf of The Port of Stockton, at this time is <br /> requesting a second re-excavation and soil remediation program. The purpose <br /> of which is removing and disposing of the contaminated soil in the afore- <br /> mentioned area. The excavation will begin at the point marked W (inset) <br /> on Figure 4A extending towards and past the point marked E, a total distance <br /> of 20 feet and from point S toward and past point N, a total distance.of 15 <br /> feet. The depth shall be 15 feet or to groundwater ]ever at low tide, <br /> whichever is applicable. See attached Drawing Figures 4A and 5A. <br /> Estimated amount of soil to be removed is approximately 167 cubic yards. <br /> All spoils removed will be placed on plastic sheeting and disposed of <br /> after an assessment of the extent of contamination is made. <br /> Approximately 11 soil samples will be taken. Two samples from each 5idewall <br /> and three bottom samples. 5idewall samples will start two feet up from the <br /> bottom and again five feet higher. Bottom samp'ies will be evenly spaced <br /> along the length of the excavation. See attached Drawing Figures 4B and <br /> 5B. In the event water should be encountered in the excavation, samples <br /> will be taken and analyzed for the appropriate substances. Water samples <br /> r " will be taken with the use of a bailer or by dipping vials or bottles <br /> F .._.a <br /> directly into the standing water. All soil samples will be taken from the <br /> backhoe bucket at the direction of the Environmental Health Department <br /> representative. Samples will be taken by Wm. Hunter and Assoc. , keylstered <br /> Geologists. Samples will be analyzed by an approved laboratory for BTEX <br /> and TPHD to current Tri-Regional Board Recommendations for detection limits. <br /> All work related to this project will be under the direction of Wm. Hunter <br /> and Assoc., Registered Geologists. Final reports and conclusions will be <br /> submitted by them. <br /> This plan of action is the result of meetings and discussions between the <br /> Port of Stockton representatives and San Joaquin Local Health District/ <br /> Environmental Health Division personel and supercedes the recommendations <br /> listed in the "Site Assessment Report" of March, 1990, submitted by Wm.
