WELL COMPLETION AND WELL ELEVATION SURVEY
1 Following completion of the pilot borings, a 2-inch diameter, Schedule 40 PVC well casing with a
0.020-inch slotted well screen will be installed in the monitoring well pilot boring from
1 approximately 60 feet to 80 feet bsg;a 0.030-inch slotted well screen will be installed in the shallow
SVE well pilot borings from approximately 15 feet to 30 feet bsg, and in the deep SVE well pilot
borings from approximately 45 feet to 60 feet bsg.
1 The well casing, filter pack, and sealing materials will be placed into the borehole through the
interior of the hollow-stem augers. After installing the well casing, filter pack material consisting
1 of pre-washed #2/12 or #3 Lonestar sand will be added to the remaining annular space from the
bottom of the borehole to approximately two feet above the screened interval.
1 A nominal 2-foot thick bentonite seal will be placed above the filter pack to minimize grout
penetration into the screened section of the well. The bentonite seal will be formed by pouring
1 bentonite chips into the annular space between the auger and the well casing and allowing the chips
to settle on the filter pack. The bentonite chips will be allowed to hydrate for a minimum of 1/2-hour
prior to grouting using a minimum of 5 gallons of water.
1 The remaining annular space above the bentonite seal will be filled to within three feet of the ground
surface with a cement grout. The grout mixture will consist of portland neat cement and not more
1 than 6 gallons of water per 94-pound sack of cement. The grout will be placed by pumping through
a tremie pipe. The EHD will be notified for grout inspection at least 48 hours prior to conducting
grouting procedures. Monitoring and SVE well diagrams are illustrated on Figures 4 through 6,
1 respectively.
1 3.4. WELL DEVELOPMENT
Development of the proposed wells will consist of a combination of bailing with a stainless steel
1 bailer to remove the major portion of fine-grained sediment from inside the well, surging to flush
out or draw in sediment from the filter pack, and additional ground water evacuation with a Waterra
1 inertia pump to finish the removal of fine-grained sediment. Developmental purging activities will
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
1
