1 <br /> 1 14 September 2004 <br /> • AGE-NC Project No 99-0559 <br />' Page 7 of 8 <br /> • During the quarter the highest concentrations of petroleum hydrocarbons detected at the site <br />' were present in the ground water samples collected from wells screened in 14U1 and HU2 <br /> at the east edge of the UST area The high concentrations of petroleum hydrocarbon <br /> compounds were detected in the sample from well MW-2 at the former UST release <br />' 0 The concentrations of TPH-g decreased in wells MW-1 through MW-3, but increased <br /> significantly in well MW-4 and multilevel wells MW-5 through MW-8 The concentrations <br />' of BTEX compounds and MTBE also increased <br /> • BTEX compounds were detected in samples collected from the upper three water wells <br />' within well MW-8 <br /> • TAME,ETBE and 1,2-DCA were detected in samples from the former UST area, and down <br /> gradient of the UST area (MW-4) <br />' 0 The vertical extent of impacted ground water, has been defined at the perimeter of the site, <br /> the vertical extent of impacted ground water at the western and southern edge of the site are <br />' defined by well MW-5, and to a lesser degree by MW-6 The vertical extent of impacted <br /> ground water, at the former UST area,has not been defined and extends beyond the vertical <br /> depth of well MW-7E <br />' • The lateral extent of shallow impacted ground water towards the west and southwest, down- <br /> gradient of the UST area, has not been defined <br /> 1 <br /> 5.0 RECOMMENDATIONS <br />' Based on the findings and conclusions in this report, AGE recommends the following <br />' Continue quarterly ground water monitoring, the next quarterly monitoring event is <br /> scheduled for September 2004 <br />' & Installation of additional CPT monitoring points west and southwest of the site to define the <br /> lateral extent ofpetrolcum hydrocarbons-impacted ground water,as detailed in the work plan <br /> proposed and submitted to the EHD on 03 December 2003 <br />' 0 Installation of additional, shallow- to intermediate-depth ground water extraction wells on <br /> the southern and western margin of the site, In order to minimize the lateral migration of <br />' petroleum hydrocarbons-impacted ground water towards the south and west <br /> 1 <br /> Advanced GcoEnvfronmental,Inc <br /> I <br />
