' Blaes Environmental Management Inc 1st Qtr 2005 Groundwater Momtonng Report <br /> 002-70950-04 <br /> U-Haul#709-50 <br /> 1 <br /> i <br /> 3 0 GROUNDWATER MONITORING PROGRAM <br /> ' The groundwater monitoring program discussed below includes one monitoring event conducted In <br /> March 2004 At the request of SJCEHD, this groundwater monitoring event was coordinated with <br /> Ground Zero Analysis (GZA), the consultant for the Former Harry's Auto Mart site located southeast of <br /> the U-Haul facility The measurement and sampling methods employed throughout the groundwater <br /> ' monitoring event are discussed in the following sections <br /> ' 3 1 GROUNDWATER MEASUREMENTS—MARCH 2005 <br /> On December 20, 2004, Blaes Environmental measured the depth to groundwater in the 19 groundwater <br /> monitoring wells (29 well casings) associated with the U-Haul site Groundwater levels in the well <br /> casings were measured from a surveyed point on the top of the monitoring well casing to the groundwater <br /> ' surface All water levels were measured to the nearest hundredth of a foot (0 01 ft) using a Heron <br /> electronic water-level sounder The water level depth and time of measurement were recorded on a <br /> standard field data sheet The field data sheets for this monitoring event are included as Appendix A and <br /> water levels are tabulated with previous monitoring data In Table 2 Groundwater depth measurements <br /> ' were performed in accordance with Blaes Environmental groundwater monitoring procedures presented <br /> as Appendix B <br /> 1 Groundwater depths recorded on March 14, 2005 ranged from approximately 51 14 feet below to of <br /> pP Y p <br /> ' casing (btoc) in well MW-7C to approximately 53 71 feet btoc in well MW-2C Groundwater elevations <br /> ranged from approximately 32 92 feet below mean sea level in well MW-IC to approximately 33 48 feet <br /> below mean sea level in well MW-1B (Table 2) Other observations collected during groundwater <br /> monitoring activities are presented on the field data sheet included in Appendix A <br /> ' Groundwater measurements from U-Haul's `B" well casings were used to derive a groundwater gradient <br /> map illustrating groundwater conditions at the site The average groundwater flow direction across the <br /> ' U-Haul site using the March 14, 2005 data from the U-Haul `B" well casings appears to be generally <br /> toward the northeast at an average gradient of 0 0007 feet per foot across the sites (Figure 3) A <br /> 5 <br />
