CONCO-WEST, INC. – EMERGENCY ACTION PLAN <br />5 <br />  <br />  <br />and/or those they are trying to rescue. <br />  <br />All employees shall remain at the pre-determined assembly point until the fire <br />department or other emergency response agency notifies the Supervisor(s) or <br />Responsible Person(s) that either: <br />  <br />1. The office is safe for re-entry, in which case workers shall return to their <br />assigned detail <br />2. The assembly area is not safe, in which case workers shall be instructed <br />by the Supervisor(s) or Responsible Person(s)on how/when to vacate <br />the premises. <br />  <br />I. Sheltering in Place <br /> <br /> <br />In the event that chemical, biological, or radiological contaminants are released into the <br />environment in such quantity and/or proximity to office, authorities and/or a Qualified <br />Person may determine that is safer to remain indoors rather than to evacuate <br />employees. If sheltering in place is an option, the Qualified Person shall immediately <br />close the area and give further instructions. If there are customers, clients, or visitors <br />on the job-site they shall be advised to stay in the building for their safety. <br /> <br />  <br />1. Unless there is an imminent threat, employees, customers, clients, and visitors <br />shall call their emergency contacts to let them know where they are and that <br />they are safe. <br />2. The Supervisor(s) shall keep an open line for communication with emergency <br />response teams and Emergency Action Plan Manager until further instructions <br />are given. <br /> <br /> <br />3. Designated Person(s) shall quickly lock exterior doors and close windows <br />and air vents. Designated Person(s) familiar with the building’s mechanical <br />systems shall turn off, seal, or disable all fans, heating and air conditioning <br />systems, especially those systems that automatically provide for exchange of <br />inside air with outside air. If there is a danger of explosion, Designated <br />Person(s) shall close the window shades, blinds, or curtains. <br />  <br />5. Designated Person(s) shall gather essential disaster supplies (i.e., nonperishable <br />food, bottled water, battery-powered radios, first-aid supplies, flashlights, batteries, <br />duct tape, plastic sheeting, and plastic garbage bags), which are stored in the draws <br />in the kitchen, and shall take them to the conference room. [Select interior room(s) <br />above the ground floor, with the fewest windows or vents. The room(s) should have <br />adequate space for everyone to be able to sit. Avoid overcrowding by selecting <br />several rooms if necessary. Large storage closets, utility rooms, pantries, copy and <br />conference rooms without exterior windows will work well. Avoid selecting rooms <br />In the event sheltering in place is not an option, evacuate in the direction <br />that is down-wind from the hazard to a predesignated area
