23 June 1998
AGE-NC Project No. 96-0229
4. Decontaminate all sampling equipment in an alconox solution and rinse twice with water
prior to each sampling run. Steam clean down-hole equipment before advancement of each
boring.
5. Soil samples are to be collected adjacent each CPT boring at 10-foot intervals or in areas of
lithologic variance, beginning at 20 feet bsg. Soil samples will be collected utilizing a piston
soil sampler loaded with pre-cleaned 2-inch diameter brass sleeves.
6. Preserve soil in the brass sleeve by covering both ends with Teflon sheets, capping, and
sealing with tape.
7. Label each preserved sample with location, boring designation, depth, date, time and
sampler's initials.
8. Store the samples under ice and transport the samples in a chilled ice chest to a state-certified
laboratory for analysis.
9. Screen soil sample duplicates for the presence of volatile organic'compounds using a photo-
ionization detector(PID)pre-calibrated to isobutylene.
10. Log borings in accordance with the Unified Soil Classification System(USCS,as per Visual
Classification of Soils, 1986, Bureau of Reclamation Engineering and Research Center).
11. Analyze selected soil samples for TPH-g, BTE&X, MTBE, DIPE, TBA, ETBE, TAME in
accordance with the appropriate EPA methods.
12. Following borehole advancement, a grout mix will be utilized to backfill each borehole
utilizing a tremie pipe. The PHS-EHD will be given the opportunity to inspect the grout mix
prior to backfilling activities.
4.4. REPORTING
A report detailing the results of the investigation will be prepared. The report will be in a format
acceptable to the PHS-EHD and CVRWQCB and will include recommendations for additional
investigation/remediation, if appropriate. The report will be reviewed and signed by a California
Registered Geologist.
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
