I July 2000
AGE-NC Project No 95-0130
Page 4of5
samples representative of deeper ground water conditions
• Ground water elevations increased at the site an average 1 64 feet from October 1999 to
March 2000, a general trend of increasing ground water elevations has been observed at the
site since January 1995 (Table 1)
Between the October 1999 and March 2000 sampling events, no substantial concentration
Iincreases were observed in the constituents of concern
• TBA was detected in a water samples collected from wells MW-3 and MW-5 at
concentrations as high as 91 µg/1 Due to historical TBA detection at MW-2 and due to
abnormally high laboratory reporting limits at VW-1 C, VW-2A and VW-3A, TBA may also
be present in the areas of MW-2, VW-1C, VW-2A and VW-3C at concentrations below the
I laboratory determined detection limits
• Laboratory results of ground water samples suggest that there appears to be a dissolved 1,2-
DCA impact in the area of wells MW-2, MW-3, VW-1C, VW-2A and VW-3A
• The elevated concentrations of petroleum hydrocarbons detected in samples collected from
wells VW-1C,VW-2A and VW-3A Indicate that these wells are within or near the dissolved
petroleum hydrocarbon "core area" of the plume
• The lateral and vertical extent of the dissolved hydrocarbon plume is not known toward the
I north and northeast and east of the current area bound by wells MW-1 through MW-5,
VW-1C, VW-2A and VW-3A
5.0. RECOMMENDATIONS
Based upon the results of this investigation, AGE recommends
• Continued quarterly ground water monitoring
• Continued utilization of wells VW-1, VW-2 and VW-3 for characterization of ground water
conditions in the "core area"
• Proceed with assessment borings and ground water monitoring well installations as outlined
in the Work Plan Addendum -June 1998, dated 23 June 1998 and approved by the PHS-EHD
by letter dated 18 August 1999
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc
