' 304 East Weber Avenue, Third Floor • Stockton, CA 95202 209/468-3420 KEN AND ED ENRICH 'JAN 17 2002 TOP FILLING STATION 1428 E MARKET STREET STOCKTON CA 95205-5531 I RE Top F1iIing Station SITE CODE 1294 101 S Wilson Way Stockton CA 95205 San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (EHD) has reviewed Quarterly Monitoring Reports dated July 31, 2000, March 23, 2001, May 14, 2001, August 30, 2001, December 24, 2001 and the faxed copies of the analytical results from the two multi-level wells (MW6 and MW7) which were installed on September 24, 2001 and sampled December 12, 2001 that was submitted by Advanced GeoEnvironmentai, Inc on behalf of the above referenced site and has the following comments The July 31, 2000, Quarterly Report doesn't have well data sheets for VW1 B, VW26, or VW3A The well data sheet for VW2A shows the total depth of the well as 40 feet VW213 is 40 feet deep The well data sheet for VW36 shows the total depth of the well as 63 feet VW3A is 63 feet deep. Analytical results on the lab data sheets for these wells have been switched on the Groundwater Analytical Table in the report except for the analyses performed by McCampbell Analytical Inc laboratory The March 23, 2001, Quarterly Report contains well data sheets and the Chain of Custody for the water samples collected with well identification changes Depth to water when the samples were collected was about 38 feet below surface grade (bsg) so VW213 and VW313 should have been dry as reflected by the changes on the well data sheets and the Chain of Custody The May 14, 2001 Quarterly Report contains well data sheets and the Chain of Custody for the water samples collected with well identification changes again The well data sheet for VW36 indicates the well was dry and the Cham of Custody has no time of collection for one of the water samples The McCampbell Analytical laboratory data sheets shows non-detect results for VW3A sample The Groundwater Analytical Table in the report shows non detect for VW3B and has the concentrations on the laboratory data sheets as the results for VW3A It :s obvious that there is confusion about the identification of the nested vapor wells The identification of these wells should be clearly marked on the well head Water sample identification on well data sheets and the Cham of Custody must be performed more carefully The above data must be reviewed, explained and corrected immediately The reports show the results of the quarterly groundwater monitoring and sampling events that took place at this site from June 21, 2000 to August 14, 2001 Results of the sample analyses show methyl-tertiary butyl ether(MtBE) was detected in groundwater samples from wells MW-1, MW-2, MW- 3, VW-1 B, VW2B, VW 1 C, VW-2A, VW-3A, and VW3B with concentrations as high as 440,000 Ag/l (VW36 on 6121100) Benzene, toluene, ethyl benzene, and xylene (BTEX) compounds were detected ` in the groundwater samples from all the wells, with benzene concentrations as high as 39,000 }igll i (VW 1 C on 10/27!00) Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPH-g) was also detected in all the wells with concentrations as high as 300,000�Lg/l (VW3B on 6/21/00) Ethylene dibromide (EDB), 1,2 Dichlorcethane (1,2 DCA) and Tertiary butanol (TBA) were also detected in ground water samples collected from the site A Owlion of San Joaquin County health Care Serv►c s
