1
' 30 March 2005
• AGE-NC Project No 95-0130
' Following sample collection, the samples were properly labeled, placed in a covered container and
transported under chain of custody to CTEL and Castle Analytical Laboratory (CAL) both DHS-
certified laboratories in California Each sample was analyzed within 72 hours of collection for
TPH-g, BTEX and MTBE in accordance with EPA Methods 8015M and 8020/8021
' 33 SOIL VAPOR EXTRACTION REMEDIATION FINDINGS
From field and laboratory data collected at the SVE remediation system between 01 October 2004
' and 22 December 2004, AGE determined the average TPH-g concentration, the average flow rate
and calculated the approximate mass and volume of hydrocarbons removed
' 3 3 1 RESULTS OF SOIL VAPOR EXTRACTION
' Between 01 October and 22 December 2004, the SVE remediation system was operational for
approximately 1,968 hours (Tables 6 and 7) During this operational period, SVE inlet flow rates
were observed to average approximately 39 cubic feet per minute, from a differential pressures
observed at approximately 0 48 inches of water Utilizing a photo ionization meter (PID),
hydrocarbon concentrations were measured at concentrations as high as 5,127 parts per million
' (ppm) at regular intervals at the SVE inlet Field measurements are summarized in Table 6
3 3 2 ANALYTICAL RESULTS OF VAPOR EXTRACTION AIR FLOW SAMPLES
Influent and effluent SVE air flow samples were collected on 01 October, 12 October, 18 October,
on 23 November and on 22 December 2004 TPH-g was detected in all five influent SVE air flow
samples at concentrations as high as 43,000 µg/l TPH-g was also detected in the above effluent air
flow samples at concentrations as high as 860 µg/1
BTEX constituents were detected in all five influent SVE air flow samples at concentrations as high
as 750 µg/l benzene, 4,200 µg/l toluene, 930 µg11 ethylbenzene and 3,600 µg11 xylenes Low
concentrations of BTEX constituents were detected in the above effluent SVE air flow samples at
concentrations as high as 12µg/l benzene,68 µg11 toluene, 17µg/l ethylbenzene and 66µg/l xylenes
' MTBE was detected in the 18 October,23 November and 22 December 2004 influent SVE air flow
samples at concentrations of 80 µg11 , 140 µg/l and 40 µg/1, respectively, MTBE was not detected
in any of the above effluent air flow samples
Analytical results of SVE air samples are summarized m Table S Ge T
racker confirmation pages
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc
