04 June 1997
AGE-NC Project No 95-0130
Due to continued elevated concentrations of petroleum hydrocarbons detected at VW-1C,
it appears that VW-1C is near the center of the dissolved hydrocarbon plume
The fluctuation of detected dissolved petroleum hydrocarbons in VW-1C ("core" area) over
the past four quarters is suggestive of a dissolved hydrocarbon plume with a heterogeneous
distribution of hydrocarbon concentrations within the core area
42 RECOMMENDATIONS
A Remedial Action Work Plan will be submitted to the PHS-EHD for a soil vapor extraction system
in the area of the highest observed hydrocarbon concentrations Upon regulatory approval,
installation of the remediation system should commence
Vapor extraction wells VW-1 through VW-3 should be utilized for characterization of ground water
conditions in the "core' area
' The next quarterly monitonng and sampling is scheduled for June 1997
5,0.
