04 June 1997 <br /> AGE-NC Project No 95-0130 <br /> Page 4 of 4 <br /> Due to continued elevated concentrations of petroleum hydrocarbons detected at VW-1C, <br /> it appears that VW-1C is near the center of the dissolved hydrocarbon plume <br /> The fluctuation of detected dissolved petroleum hydrocarbons in VW-1C ("core" area) over <br /> the past four quarters is suggestive of a dissolved hydrocarbon plume with a heterogeneous <br /> distribution of hydrocarbon concentrations within the core area <br /> 42 RECOMMENDATIONS <br /> A Remedial Action Work Plan will be submitted to the PHS-EHD for a soil vapor extraction system <br /> in the area of the highest observed hydrocarbon concentrations Upon regulatory approval, <br /> installation of the remediation system should commence <br /> Vapor extraction wells VW-1 through VW-3 should be utilized for characterization of ground water <br /> conditions in the "core' area <br />' The next quarterly monitonng and sampling is scheduled for June 1997 <br /> 5,0. LIMITATIONS <br /> iOur professional services were performed using that degree of care and skill ordinarily exercised by <br /> environmental consultants practicing in this or similar localities The findings were based upon <br />' analytical results provided by an independent laboratory Evaluations of the geologic/hydrogeologic <br /> conditions at the site for the purpose of this investigation were made from a limited number of <br /> available data points (i a borings, monitoring wells), and subsurface conditions may vary away from <br />' these data points No other warranty, expressed or implied, is made as to the professional <br /> recommendations contained in this report <br />
