1 <br /> 8 November 1995 <br /> AGE-NC Project No 95-0130 <br /> Page 6 of 7 <br /> 13 Selected soil samples will also be transmitted to a microbiological laboratory for <br /> physicochemical analysis and microbiological enumeration to determine the bioremediation <br /> feasibility <br /> 4 2 BORING COMPLETION <br /> j <br /> I <br /> For the installation of ground water monitoring wells and soil vapor extraction wells, the following <br /> procedures will be performed <br /> 1 Complete two soil borings (MW-4 and MW-5) as 2-inch diameter momtonng wells in <br /> accordance with the well design in Figure 3 <br /> 2 Convert three soil borings (VW-1, VW-2 and VW-3) to cluster-completed SVE wells in <br /> accordance with the well design in Figure 4 _The borings will be completed using three 2-inch <br /> diameter slotted PVC screens with separate screened intervals at 15 to 30 feet, 30 to 45 feet <br /> and 50 to 65 feet bsg Blank PVC screen will be used from surface grade to top of each <br /> screened interval A filter pack will be installed using#3 sand from bottom of screened depth <br /> to two feet above, and a 3-foot bentonite plug placed on top of filter pack Each well will <br /> then be backfilled to the surface with Portland cement (Figure 3) <br /> 1 <br /> 3 <br /> 43 GROUND WATER SAMPLE COLLECTION <br /> For the collection of ground water samples, the following procedures will be performed <br /> 1 Survey the top of each well casing to determine the elevation relative to existing wells <br /> 2 No sooner than 48 hours after installation, measure to the nearest 0 01 foot, the static water j <br /> level in the new wells <br /> 3 Using a bailer or submersible pump, surge and purge all wells At least three well volumes <br /> of water will be removed from each well to stabilize temperature, pH, and conductivity, <br /> stabilization parameters will be measured at one-gallon intervals Samples will be collected { <br /> using disposable bailers, samples will be collected in 40-m1 VOA vials <br /> 4 Label and log water samples on a chain-of-custody form <br /> 5 Store the samples in a chilled container and transport under chain-of-custody procedure to <br /> a state-certified laboratory for analysis Water samples will be analyzed for TPH-g, and <br /> BTE&X in accordance with EPA methods 5030/8015, and 602, respectively <br /> 6 Store purged water in 55-gallon DOT drums on-site pending analytical results <br />
