TARGET
(D
#3 Facility not maintained to minimize the release of a hazardous waste. [CCR66262.34(d)(2)I
Response: Target's Corporate Compliance team has worked with Store T2347 to review best practices
for proper housekeeping and the sorting and storage of hazardous waste. Based on the observations
noted during the inspection, a member of Target's Field Compliance Team will be visiting the store to
review the ESIM process with the store team. All items identified during the inspection have been
managed according to Target's Environmentally Sensitive Item Management Process. A photo of the
hazardous waste storage area showing all containers are properly closed and labeled is attached
[Attachment B].
#4 Failed to inspect hazardous waste storage areas at least weekly. [CCR66262.34(d)(2)1
Response: Target's Corporate Compliance Team has provided direction to Store T2347 to complete
weekly hazardous waste inspections. The store team has been reminded about the importance of this
requirement. Target's process for conducting weekly inspections includes an electronic notification and
escalation process to ensure that inspections are completed at least once a week. The weekly inspection
report is available for review during a store inspection. The inspection includes a series of questions that
prompt the team member to review the hazardous waste storage area for proper container management.
Target is in the process of rolling out an improved electronic log and notification system. An example of
the inspection log and completion report is attached [Attachment C]
#5 Failed to completely label containers or portable tanks of hazardous waste. [CCR 66262.34(f)1
Response: Target's Corporate Compliance team has worked with Store T2347 to review best practices
for properly sorting hazardous waste.
