JSA # ASITCTC 04. 10 <br /> ADAMS SERVICES, INC . <br /> WORK PLAN FOR CLEANING, AND INERTING UST ' S FOR <br /> THE PURPOSE OF TEMPORARY CLOSURE AND/OR PRIOR TO <br /> Jiio <br /> EXCAVATION. <br /> 1 . Tailgate safety meeting at jobsite discussing site specific concerns and work <br /> procedures before work commences . <br /> 2 . Verify tank volumes by stick checking. <br /> 3 . Properly ground Vacuum truck, pump out and triple rinse product lines back to <br /> the tank using high pressure water and cleaning solution . <br /> 4 . If required dismantle piping from the tank tops including turbines , risers, product <br /> line manifolds and vent lines to gain sufficient access to the tank bungs . <br /> 5 . Introduce the vacuum truck hose into the tank to start pumping out remaining <br /> product . <br /> 6 . Once residual product has been removed from the tank, cleaning will commence <br /> using high pressure washing equipment and various length wands to properly <br /> access the tank interior, washing will continue using water and cleaning solution <br /> until the atmosphere of the tank attains a reading of less than 10% LEL and all <br /> tank bottom sludge has been removed. <br /> 7 . All tank cleaning rinsate will be pumped out of the tank and be profiled and <br /> disposed of in accordance with U. S . Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Title 40, <br /> Parts 260-279 and CCR Title 22 , Div . 4 , Chapter 30 and shipped using a Uniform <br /> Hazardous Waste Manifest to an approved T. S .D.F . <br /> 8 . Dry Ice will be placed in the tanks at a rate of 25lbs/ 1000gal . tank capacity, tanks <br /> are considered inerted once oxygen level is below 10% <br /> 9 . Verify oxygen readings, replace all fittings and apparatus , secure tanks and site . <br /> The following guidelines published by the American Petroleum Institute (API) <br /> are used in training and practice and can be furnished upon request. <br /> API 2219 : Safe Operation of Vacuum Trucks in Petroleum Service . <br /> API 2015 : Safe Entry and Cleaning of Petroleum Storage Tanks . <br /> NFPA : 326 Standard for the Safeguarding of Tanks and Containers for Entry, <br /> Cleaning or Repair. <br /> ISI <br />
