Applied Geotechnology Inc.
Specific conductance values vary widely between samplings. In December
1987, specific conductance ranged from 2,400 to 3,400 umbos/cm. In June
1990, specific conductance ranged from 860 to 1,850 umhos/cm. This de-
crease in specific conductance may be explained by a seasonal fluctuation,
difference in well completion depths, or external influences (e.g.
groundwater treatment in progress at the LIKA Corporation facility) .
6.2.2 Metals
Tables 9 and 10 present the groundwater testing results for dissolved
metals. Arsenic concentrations are less than 0.019 mg/l for all wells
except PW-3 , which has a concentration of 0.05 mg/1. In 1987, cadmium was
detected in MW-1, MW-2, and MW-3 at 0.0062, 0.0010 and 0.0023 mg/1, respec-
tively. Cadmium was detected at a concentration of 0.005 mg/l in June 1990
in MW-3. Chromium was not detected in any samples in 1987 or 1990. Copper
was detected at concentrations near the detection limit in MW-3 and PW-1 in
the 1990 samples. Lead was detected in PW-3 at 0.008 mg/1. Zinc was de-
tected in MW-1, MW-2, and MW-3 in 1987 at concentrations ranging from 0.01
to 0.15 mg/l.
6.2.3 Volatile Organic Compounds
Table 11 presents volatile organic compounds detected in groundwater in
1987. In 1987, monitor well MW-2 contained ethylbenzene, toluene, and
xylenes at concentrations ranging from 0.52 ug/l for toluene to 0.98 ug/1
for ethylbenzene. MW-3 contained 1.2 ug/l of ethylbenzene. Table 12
1, presents volatile organic compounds detected in 1990, total xylenes were
detected in PW-2 at 0.7 ug/l. Toluene and chloroform were detected in PW-3
at 1.0 and 0.2 ug/l (the analytical detection limits) , respectively.
6.2.4 Semivolatile Organic Compound/Phenols
In 1987, MW-3 contained 19 ug/l of 3-methyl-4-chlorophenol (Table 13) . No
other semivolatile organic or phenolic compounds were detected for any
other wells in December 1987 or June 1990.
6.2.5 Fuel Hydrocarbons
No fuel hydrocarbons were detected in groundwater in December 1987 or June
1990 (see Table 14) .
-25-
