Box 2009
Stockton, CA 95201
SUBJECT: BEACON STATION NO. 610, 3300 WATERLOO ROAD,.STOCKTON, CALIFORNIA
Dear Ms. Meays:
This correspondence is in response to your letter dated February 1, 1994.`•
Enclosed are the weight tickets for transport of the soil to Ben's Truck and
Equipment (Ben's) of Red Bluff, California. Ben's, a state -permitted facility,
treats the soil transported to them utilizing aeration and/or bio -remediation.
As the San Joaquin County Public Health Services (SJPHS) is aware, there has--
been, in the past, shared responsibility for assessment and/or remediation at
this site. Therefore, the March 15, 1994 deadline for the submittal.of a -work
plan for further definition is not feasible. Ultramar is scheduling a meeting -
with the property owner (Quentin Kirsch) to discuss the responsibility of each
party for -future work. -
The excavation above the 33 -foot -depth sample, T61 -A, which contained 7,400
parts -per -million TPH as diesel,=was-backfilled with pea gravel due to the
depth of-the'.excavation and the self compaction nature of pea gravel.- Because -_
it is not possible to drill through pea gravel a conductor casing was
installed so that the vertical extent of the TPH as=diesel could be assessed at'
a later date by drilling through the conductor casing. The installation of
_.these conductor casings was -discussed with and -approved by an employee of the --
SJCPHS.. Please do not hesitate to call if you have -any questions.about this:, -
project at (209) 583-5571.
A Member of the Ultramar Group of Companies
BEACON
-- -- - - #f1 Quality and Service
