According to the DG <br /> HW guidance poster and guidance documents, air fresheners/fragrances and items containing oils are to be placed in <br /> the Flammable HW tote. <br /> -A pack of Little Tree air fresheners,which the scanner stated should be placed in a Toxic HW tote.According to the <br /> DG HW guidance poster, air fresheners/fragrances and items containing oils are to be placed in the Flammable HW <br /> tote. <br /> -A 75 oz leaking container of Arm&Hammer Liquid Laundry Detergent,which the scanner stated should be placed in <br /> the Alkaline HW tote.According to the DG HW guidance poster, laundry detergents are to be placed in the Toxic HW <br /> tote. <br /> 3.A container of Gain Moonlight Breeze laundry detergent was found in a Flammable HW tote and came up as <br /> Flammable on the hand-held scanner when scanned. However,according to the DG HW Environmental Compliance <br /> poster and guidance documents, laundry detergent is to be placed in a Toxic HW tote. (IMG 8156, 8160-2) <br /> 4.The blue tote labeled as Flammable HW tote contained the following waste items(IMG 8241-50): <br /> -A box of Zyrtec allergy medicine,which the scanner stated should be placed in the Toxic HW tote.Also, according <br /> to the DG HW guidance poster, medicine is to be placed in a Toxic HW tote. <br /> -Aspercreme Pain Relieving Creme,which the scanner stated should be placed in the Toxic HW tote. <br /> -A box of DG Health Ibuprofen medicine,Which the scanner stated should be placed in the Toxic HW tote. <br /> 5.An open tote labeled for Smoking Cessation waste items, as indicated on the DG HW guidance poster,was found <br /> in the HW storage area containing an open box of TNT Pop-Its Snappers.The scanner stated these snappers are to <br /> be placed in a Flammable HW tote.According to Tony Yang, Store Manager,the snappers were a vendor item that <br /> would be sent back to the vendor for credit to the facility. (IMG 8258-61) <br /> 6.When asked how damaged or expired smoking cessation items, such as nicotine gum, are managed,Tony stated <br /> these items are placed in the open Smoking Cessation tote until they are scanned, at which point they are then <br /> placed in one of the other HW totes(e.g. Flammable, Oxidizer,Alkaline, Acid,Toxic, Universal). Tony did not seem to <br /> know that the Smoking Cessation tote is meant to store any waste smoking cessation items generated by the facility, <br /> nor to place a ticket in DG's Respond system once the tote approaches two pounds worth of smoking cessation items <br /> inside, as stated in the Dollar General Environmental Compliance Training Program. <br /> The generator must ensure that all employees who handle hazardous waste are thoroughly familiar with proper waste <br /> handling and emergency procedures. <br /> Provide proof of re-training and training materials to the EHD for employees whose responsibilities include hazardous <br /> waste. <br /> This is a Class II violation. <br /> FA0000662 PR0537832 SC001 08/12/2019 <br /> EHD 22-01 Rev.09/27/2018 Page 8 of 13 Small Quantity Hazardous Waste Generator OIR <br /> 1868 E.
