Dollar General #14130, 4115 N EI Dorado St. Stockton, CA Record ID PR0537834
07/19/2019 CUPA— Haz. Waste
PHOTO#9
A. The following bagged waste items were found in a Toxic HW tote (IMG 7486):
1. A package containing a Duracell alkaline 9V1 battery. However, when Bill Davis, Store Manager, scanned the battery's barcode, the hand-held
scanner stated the battery should be placed in the Universal Environmental Bin. Bill stated that the battery should have been placed into the Universal
Waste tote. (IMG 7486-90)
2. A seemingly empty container of Window Cleaner containing ammonia, and with an absorbent pad. According to Bill, this cleaner was a store-use
item, which was used by employees to clean the facility. Bill stated that store-use items are marked as store-use and have the item's barcode crossed out.
According to Bill, empty chemical containers are also scanned to determine which hazardous waste tote the item should be placed in. According to the
Dollar General (DG) Environmental Compliance poster(Poster), found posted next to the HW storage area, items labeled as containing ammonia are to be
placed in the Alkaline HW tote. (IMG 7483, 7492-3)
3. A Febreze Air Freshener aerosol can. However, according to the Poster, and the DG Flammable HW Guidance document (Guidance)also posted
near the HW storage area, aerosols are to be placed in the Flammable HW tote. (IMG 7494, 7497-7502).
4. A seemingly empty container of Mean Green Super Strength Cleaner& Degreaser, and with an absorbent pad. However, the scanner indicated
the cleaner should be placed in the Alkaline HW tote.
