07 September 1999
•
' AGE-NC Project No 95-0104
' The mass of hydrocarbons extracted from VW-I between 28 July 1999 and 27 August 1999 was
calculated to be approximately 18 36 gallons The mass calculations for the pilot test are in
Appendix E
' S.O. DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS
Based on data collected during the July 1999 ground water monitoring event, AGE concludes
' • Ground water flow direction in the area of MW-1 through MW-6 was generally toward the
southeast at a gradient of 0 15 ft/ft, or approximately 800 feet per mile (Figure 3)
' • Ground water elevation at the site decreased an average 6 15 feet between the April 1999 and
the July 1999 ground water monitoring events
' • Ground water was approximately 5 to 7 feet above the screen intervals at MW-5 and MW-6
Therefore these wells are "drowned" and may yield samples more reps esentatIve of deeper
ground water than of shallowest ground water
' TPH-g was detected in water samples collected from wells MW-1 MW-5, MW-6 and VW-1
at concentrations ranging as high as 1,100 micrograms per liter (,cg/1)
• BTEX compounds were detected from ground water samples collected at MW-1, MW-5,
MW-6 and VW-1 at concentrations ranging as high as 190 ,ug/l The greatest concentration
' of benzene was detected in the ground water sample collected from well MW-5 at a
concentration of 49 ,ug/l
• From April 1999 to July 1999, substantially increasing dissolved petroleum hydrocarbon
rconcentrations were observed at the site (Table 2), the greatest magnitude of increasing
hydrocarbons was observed from well MW-5 The increases may be related to operation of
the SVE/IAS pilot test which may be forcing the hydrocarbon plume in a northeasterly
direction
• Samples collected from wells MW-1 and MW-6 during the April 1999 ground water
' monitoring event did not detect concentrations of dissolved petroleum h5 drocarbons
However samples from these same wells detected concentration~ of dissolved petroleum
hydrocarbons during the July 1999 monitoring event
Based on data collected between 28 July 1999 and the 27 August 1999 SVE/lAS pilot test, AGE
concludes
• The SVE/IAS pilot test was operational for 691 hours (Table 4)
• Flow rates ranged from 25 to 70 standard cubic feet per minute (scfin) at 0 20 to 1 75 inches
' AdiancedCeoEmiron mental,Inc
