+ L) L)
I
3.0 WORK PLAN, VAPOR INTRUSION ASSESSMENT
{ On July 3, 2007, EHD documented their review of Ramage Environmental's Additional Site
r Investigation and Groundwater Monitoring Report, dated February 16, 2007, and directed that the
potential for vapor intrusion into on-site buildings be addressed; prior to case closure
consideration.,
To screen gasoline compound concentrations for the potential for vapor emissions to indoor air,
Ramage Environmental completed a Tier 1 Environmental Screening,Levels (ESL) assessment.
For input into the ESL model, Ramage Environmental used thebighest concentrations of gasoline
compounds recorded in soil and the most recent concentrations of gasoline compounds in
t groundwater. As shown in the ESL output (Appendix D), the concentrations of benzene in soil
and groundwater exceed the ESL for vapor emissions to indoorair .
Because the•ESL for vapor emissions to indoor air was exceeded, actual soil vapor sample
analytical results and site specific input data are required to fully evaluate the potential threat. To
achieve this objective, Ramage Environmental proposes to collect soil vapor samples for
'laboratory analysis, and input the analytical results into a Tier 2'vapor.;intrusion risk assessment.i
I
i
3.1 Project Planning and Permitting
Prior to initiating fieldwork, asite-specific health and safety plan'addendum will be prepared
g
according to 29 CFR 1910.120. The health and safety plan addendum will include safety
procedures for work to be performed, chemical hazard information, site safety officers, and a
medical emergency location.
To perform the proposed scope of work, drilling permits will be obtained from EHD. Since all of
the work will be completed on-site, neither encroachment permits nor.:private property access
agreements will be required. At least two working days prior.to.field work,.Ramage Environmental
Op
will.notify EHD so that any inspections can be scheduled, and contact Underground Service Alert
so that utility clearance inspections can be completed.
{
I
,
