3.0 WORK PLAN, ADDITIONAL SITE INVESTIGATION
.., The objectives of the proposed scope of work are to further define the lateral extent of impacted soil
and groundwater, southwest (up-gradient) and southeast (cross-gradient) of the former UST source
area. To achieve this objective, two soil borings will be drilled on-site for soil and groundwater
sampling.
3.1 Project Planning and Permitting
Prior to initiating fieldwork, a site-specific health and safety plan will be prepared according to 29
`y CFR 1910.120. The health and safety plan will include safety procedures for work to be performed,
chemical hazard information, site safety officers, and a medical emergency location.
V
To perform the proposed scope of work, drilling permits will be obtained from EHD. Since all of the
drilling will be conducted on-site, neither off-site access agreements nor encroachment permits will
be required. At least two working days prior to field work, Ramage Environmental will notify EHD
and Underground Service Alert so that regulatory and utility inspections can be scheduled.
3.2 Soil and Groundwater Sampling and Analysis
To further assess the lateral extent of impacted soil and groundwater, soil and groundwater
samples will be collected from two on-site soil borings. The proposed soil borings will be located in
.,, the southwest corner of the sub-grade parking area and in the southeast corner of the street grade
asphalt parking area. These proposed boring locations are shown on Figure 3.
A C-57 licensed drilling contractor will drill the soil borings with 8-inch diameter hollow-stem augers.
Both proposed soil borings will be drilled to further evaluate a silty sand interval previously-
encountered at approximately 30 to 35 feet below street grade. Since the sub-grade parking area
is approximately 11 feet below street grade, the soil boring proposed for the southwest corner of the
sub-grade parking area should only be drilled to a depth of approximately 25 feet. The ultimate
depths of the soil borings will depend on the lithologic and hydrogeologic conditions observed
during drilling.
.r
V
9
