Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons (TPH)-as-gasoline, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes were
' detected in the soil sample collected from beneath a disintegrating joint in the underground piping
(P1), and all three soil samples collected from beneath the former UST Benzene was only
' detected in the soil sample collected at 13 feet from beneath the north end of the former UST, and
methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE) was only detected in the soil sample collected at P1 The other
soil sample collected along the former underground piping, and the soil sample collected from
beneath the former dispenser did not contain detectable concentrations of gasoline compounds
' 1 2 2 Prelimina Investigation and Evaluation
On April 16, 2001, Ramage Environmental published Preliminary Investigation and Evaluation
' Report, which documented the results of soil and groundwater-grab sampling from three on-site
Geoprobe® soli borings (B-1, B-2 and B-3) The boring locations are shown on Figure 2
' Results of the investigation indicated that soil and groundwater beneath the site had been
impacted by gasoline hydrocarbons The soil sample analytical results are summarized in Table
' 1, and the groundwater analytical results are included in Table 2
1 2 3 Monitoring Well Installations and Sensitive Receptor Survey
On September 27, 2002, Ramage Environmental published Monitoring Well Installation Report,
' which documented the installation of three on-site groundwater monitoring wells and the survey of
potential sensitive receptors within 2,000-feet of the site
' In soil, only two samples contained detectable concentrations of gasoline hydrocarbons
Laterally, the extent of impacted soil appeared to be limited to the vicinity of the former UST
' system Vertically, the extent of impacted soil appeared to be defined to a depth of approximately
20 feet below ground surface (bgs) The soil sample analytical results are included in Table 1
' Ing roundwater, only the sample collected from MW-1 contained detectable concentrations of
gasoline compounds Given a groundwater flow direction toward the northeast, the lateral extent
' of impacted groundwater appeared to be defined downgradient by MW-2 and MW-3 The
groundwater analytical results are summarized in Table 2, and the well construction details and
' groundwater monitoring data are summarized in Table 3
4
1
