1
3.0 CONCLUSIONS, RECOMMENDATIONS AND PROJECT STATUS
Between August 19, and December 30, 2004, the groundwater surface dropped an average of
0 04 feet, the groundwater gradient increased from 0 0086 to 0 0134 foottfoot, and the
groundwater flow direction remained toward the northeast The depth to groundwater beneath the
site was at its lowest level, since the monitoring wells were installed in July 2002 Otherwise, the
groundwater surface characteristics are consistent with historical and seasonal trends
Between August 19, and December 30, 2004, gasoline compounds in groundwater generally
declined at MW-1, and increased at MW-2 and MW-3 Concentrations of gasoline compounds in
groundwater at MW-1 have generally declined, since the monitoring wells were installed in July
2002, probably due to source removal efforts and natural attenuation processes In the last four
quarterly sampling events on March 24, June 18, August 19, and December 30, 2004, increasing
rconcentrations of MTBE have been detected in the perimeter wells (MW-2 and MW-3) As such, it
appears that MTBE has migrated away from the source area in the downgradient direction, and
that the extent of impacted groundwater is undefined
Ramage Environmental recommends that the plume of impacted groundwater continue to be
monitored on a quarterly basis If the concentrations of MTBE in the perimeter wells continue to
increase, it may be necessary to expand the groundwater monitoring well network
1
r
r
r
r
r
•
r
r
